Trip to Pinegrove Dude Ranch in Kerhonkson, NY. Three days of Skiing,
shotgun and rifle shooting, horeseback riding, taunting the bull, and about
20 hours of BattleToads and Cruisin' USA. Also while at Pinegrove, A spark
of love grew into a flame between Aubrey Dilatush and Jennie McCann. It
was also a time of slurping jello, pudding eating contests, and the old
salt and butter trick. Can't Wait untill next year!
Three Rivers Boy Scout Klondike, the younger scouts had fun in the
traditional camporee type activities. While the older scouts - Star and
above - partook in an activity new to the camporees, Shotgun and Rifle
shooting. This activity was new for the council - but not for Troop 6.
Once again Troop 6 ran a Council campfire program. This time Pirates
of the Caribbean was the theme. The troop put on an explosive show,
everything from the giant pirate ship (which was made by Sea Explorer
Ship 6), to firing cannons and a wonderful Arrow of Light ceremony
(as usual).
Boy Scout Troop 6 was lucky enough to have 5 of it’s scouts and 1
experienced leader approved to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree,
Fort A.P. Hill Virginia. This is a once in a life time experience for
most boy’s - because they are only held every 4 years. All of the
members that attended had a great time, some are even thinking about
going back as leaders.
August 2nd - 9th
While those members were enjoying themselves at the Jamboree,
younger members of the troop were experiencing summer camp at Forestburg
Scout Reservation in New York. This group was quite productive and
earned many merit badges. But even more important that earning merit
badges, is that they had a good time.
The Demo Derby at Wall Stadium - Race Day! This is one of the high
lights of our demolition derby fundraiser. We take the car to Wall Stadium
and run it in the preliminary heats (trying to get into the finals). This
year we entered TWO cars: The Land Shark - Driven by IRON Jim McGuire,
and The Sharp Shooter - Driven by WASTED Wayne Frevert.
Unfortunatly neither of the cars won their heats - but they BOTH won fans
choice in their heats (which also advanced them into the finals). They
did not do that well in the finals either, but a great day was had by all
- even the drivers, who are back safetly and still in scouting!
At the conclusion of the day, The Sharp Shooter was sold, and The
Land Shark is now awaiting it's apprearence in the Point Pleasant Holloween
Parade (on a flat bed truck, of course).
